Wall Practice

Within games, certain objects can look very plain, and boring. There are various ways to add depth to your 3D models, and make them look more realisic.

Some ways of doing this are as follows. As a demonstration, we will be improving the following wall corner.

More Realistic Corners

A good way of improving corners is to give them a corner pillar of different brick, as shown below.

Add Decals

Adding decals, such as vents or graffiti, is a good way of virtually aging your mesh. They make the model look as if it has been in the game since long before the player stumbles upon it.

With the added vent, this wall corner does look more realistin, and less plain, but it still looks too ‘clean’ and fresh. To amend this, we can add a stain of some sort beneath it.

The added vent give the wall that extra bit of history, which makes it look a lot more realistic.
